At the 2009 World Bank/ IMF Annual Meetings on The Fourth Pillar Consultation with Civil Society on Governance Reform

In September 2008, Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), set out a four-pillar approach to broaden the inputs to reform the governance structure of the IMF:
1st Pillar: The 2008 report of the IMF’s Independent Evaluation Office;
2nd Pillar: The work of the Executive Board Working Group;
3rd Pillar: A committee of eminent persons, chaired by Trevor Manuel;
4th Pillar: The consultation with civil society organizations (CSOs).
Over the last few months (June 1-Sept 1, 2009), New Rules for Global Finance has facilitated “The Fourth Pillar” Consultation with civil society on IMF Governance Reform. The text of discussions and videoconferences are all available at www.thefourthpillar.org and linked below.

In Istanbul we invite you as a member of civil society to participate in a discussion with the IMF Managing Director to discuss the recommendations in the Final CSO paper.
